Compilation of the familytree research is based on church records and state registers. These are parish, death and marriage records. The reserarch could be In the terriority of historical Hungary at the following areas:

Hungary

Felvidék (nowadays Slovakia)

Burgenland (Austria)

Transylvania (Romania)

Parish Records/Church Registers

The council of Trent in 1593 obliged the Roman Catholic church to begin the registration.
In spite of it the registers in Hungary begin from a later period. The earliest in Sopron (1624) and in Kőszeg (1633).
Generally in thousands of other settlements the registration begun at the beginning of the 18th century, so the familytree could be compiled up tp this period.
Registration by the state was introduced in 1895.

State registers:

State registry became official from the 1st October 1895. In this case research is regulated by law because of protecting personal rights and datas. So the following terms could be researched:

birth: this year-90 years (between 1895 and 1913)
marriage: this year-60 years (between 1895 and 1943)
death: this year- 30 years (between 1895 and 1973)

Beside these - in case of exact name and date between 1895 and 2003 -
I undertake purchase of official register of birth, death and marriage from the competent registry office at the territory of present-day Hungary.

What kind of datas are needed?

To begin the research I need some details about your first known ancestor. All kind of information could be useful so it is worth to look after old documents or ask the living family members. The minimal needed datas are: name, locality (origin), religion and the birth or/and death or/and marriage datas.

It is easier to research that settlements which are nowadays in Hungary. If the settlements are outside of the borders of Hungary the research can be completed too.

Types of the familytree research:

The research proceeds according to your expectations. In the following I am going to show three samples of drawing up a familytree. You can choose that one which is the most appropriate for you.

1. Direct line research for one family

In this case I try to find new generations from your first known ancestor. I look for the parents in a particular family.

For example: You know the name, birth place and/or date of  birth of your grandfather. He is the starting point. I am going to search the parents of him, and than the parents of the ggrandfather and so on as far as possible.

In this case the research contains the ancestors of the father’s or the mother’s line.

2. Direct line research for all families

I begin the research from your first known ancestor but in this case the research covers both the father’s and mother’s line. It means I look up the parents in every generation. In each generation the number of the ancestors duplicates itself, everyone has 4 grandparents, 8 great-grandparents, 16 gg-grandparents and so on. (For example: if your grandfather or grandmother borned at the begining of the 20th century in fortunate case I can find cca. 5 more generations. It means 32 ancestors until the first part of the 18th century.)

3. Researching the whole family

In this case I search a particular family, all family members, all lines of descent and collateral lines. I try to find all family members who had the same ancestors.
For example: all siblings of the grandfather, of the great-grandfather, their children and their descendants, who has the same last name.

The above mentioned types could be mixed according to your expectations.

After finishing the research I arrange the members of the family into a family tree with the help of the discovered details about them. I make the family tree available in printed and digital version (MS Excel and in a special software too). It would be able to complete or enlarge later as well.

You will get copies about your direct ancestors registers’.

The lenght of the research is: approx: 1-2 months

More services:

Tombstones

Tombstones and graves are very informative as well. Their inscription, outward, measurement and quality gives another opportunity to get new knowledge about the family. Examination and documantation of these could give additional datas to the history of the family.

Tombstones and graves of related families could be find at the cemetery of a particular settlement where the family has lived.
In case of ordering this service I place one photo of every known tombstones and graves at disposal. The price of this service is independent of the number of the graves.

Noble Families

Kings and princes of Transylvania raise up to 100.000 families to noble rank during the centuries. We do not have exact datas because the Book of Kings, that included the donations have drowned at the Danube, at Esztergom in 1526. The donations, which could be raisings to noble rank, coats of arms, titles of nobility and confirmation of these, were certified.

State and church registers, noble censuses and property censuses are point of reference for the noble origin of a family.
A tradition can be confirmed or disproved by the particular facts. (The leisured middle classes assumed highsounding titles of nobility or surnames at the begining of the 20th century , altough the donation of these was the privilege of the royal family. The useing of noble titles was regulated in case of elder noble families. They could only use that titles of nobility which they have already used before 1848 and at least 3 documents certified it.
In case of noble families - however poor families of lower nobility they were - remained estate and property action proceedings sometimes for hundreds of years retrospectively.
These documents contian large amount of facts about the family and their relationship to each other.
My service includes the researching of the history of these families, the circumstances of the donation, the coat of arms (if available), the situation of the land ( if there was) and etc.
